My name is Sylvia and I started drawing at the end of July 2015 because I wanted a creative hobby that you can do on a daily basis and that doesn't require a ton of materials - or storage rooms to keep the results. I started with a simple drawing pad and some pencils, a small investment for a new hobby. After I had acquired some basics via the Internet, I began to practice with the help of a book. For the first eight weeks, I made it a point to do something every day, even if it was just for a few minutes.
Meanwhile, I like to draw in sketchbooks, chronologically from the first to the last page and mostly with pencil, fineliner and watercolour. I date my drawings and sometimes write a bit about them as well. Afterwards I have a kind of drawn album that I can flip through.
I like to draw realistically, from the real object, but also from photos. But sometimes I draw from my imagination. As a rule, I do a preliminary drawing with a pencil, then trace the lines with a fineliner, possibly add a few hatchings and then color in more or less elaborately with watercolour.
This site is designed to provide inspiration for people who would like to draw but feel they are not talented or don't know how to start. I would like to present important, fundamental insights that I have encountered on my own creative journey and have helped me further.
